Thomas is an accomplished racer, one could say he may be a bit competitive and likes to win!
Racing is a lot more than just jumping on a boat and win a race. It’s all about the preparations leading to the race day. All good sailing racers need a coach.

Starting in 2024, WHITE TIP RACING is organising race training weeks for sailors who are at least at Competent Crew level.
Our weeks are designed to coach a group of up to 8 sailors on a race yacht and show them how to manage and race such a yacht.
For most weeks there is a 5-day training program followed by a weekend of racing.
Training is provided by qualified RYA Yachtmaster instructors who are also experienced racers.
This team of instructors is led by Thomas Wilson, our chief instructor. Thomas is also an RYA Yachtmaster instructor. In addition, he is a Yachtmaster Ocean, RYA shorebased navigation and radar instructor, who has more than 50 years of sailing experience. Thomas competed in his first international race when he was 16 and has not stopped racing since.
In 2022 Thomas and his team won the Lonely Rock Race, which is the original Fastnet course.
This year Thomas led a team of total amateurs during the 2023 Rolex Fastnet. They came 12th in class IRC3a and 83rd overall out of 358 yachts.
Which such leadership, sailors will really learn how to race a yacht.
Our program includes:
- Up to 8 people plus the skipper on board a race yacht
- Participation in at least one regatta. This can be an inshore race, a coastal race, or an offshore event
- When training, students will have shore-based accommodation where people will sleep, relax and where we can also have short theory sessions.
- When a race takes us to another port or across the Channel, the boat will also be used for accommodation
Our program includes a few “premium weeks” such as
-
- The week including The Round the Island Race, a regatta which goes around the Ile of Wight and has one of the largest gatherings of yachts in the world.
- Cowes week
- Dartmouth week
We will participate in the entire Junior Offshore Group race program.
This includes coastal and offshore races. We are awaiting the confirmation of their dates and our program will be updated as soon as these dates are available.
Your week with us includes:
- Training and racing on board a race yacht with a qualified instructor
- Shore-based accommodation when training and when the boat comes back to its home port after a race
- Accommodation on board the yacht when visiting another port
- Welcome dinner
- Breakfasts, Lunches, snacks and one dinner per week
- All mooring fees
- Race entry fees
- Fuel
- A team shirt
Not included
- Transport to and from the yacht
- Wet weather gear
- Personal insurance. All participants must have personal insurance
- 5 dinners. The group can decide whether they prefer to eat out or stay in for these
- Alcohol (No Alcohol permited during training or race times on the boat)
